An Alternative Method for Calculating the Eddy Current Loss in the Sleeve of a Sealless Pump

A sealless pump, also known as a wet rotor pump or canned requires stationary sleeve in the air gap to protect stator from medium that flows around and impeller. Since is typically made non-magnetic electrically conductive material, time-varying magnetic flux density creates an eddy current loss sleeve. Precise assessment of this crucial for design pump. This paper presents method calculating such sleeves by using only two-dimensional (2D) finite element (FEM) solver.
